About The Artist

Simon Baggs is a violinist and conductor. He is emerging as an authority on the life and works of Edward Elgar, on which subject he regularly gives lectures.

He has always been passionate about art, is self-taught, and began oil painting in 1999. His artistic interests lie predominantly in landscapes and seascapes, both real and imagined. Simon has a particular passion for creating works involving both sea and sky.

It is Simon’s belief that true art – honest art – naturally includes one or more facets of the artist themself. Even a painting worked from a photograph will bring the artist’s own unique interpretation to the composition.
